Our summer fundraising event is returning to The Steamboat Tavern, Ipswich on the 19th of August.
As always, we’ll be offering a fun, family friendly atmosphere, with live music through out the day and night, along with food and much more.
Once again, we’ll be raising funds to provide therapy through music for local children with life changing illness, injury or diagnosis. Your money can really help make a difference.
From midday to 5pm, it will be the family fun day with acoustic music from Paolo Morena, T@9, Bill Pipe, Lewis Pratt, Hackett 2 Death, James Morgan, Fanny Adams and Johnny Skeates. Along with raffles, cake stall, a bouncy castle, arts/crafts, games, our famous rain gutter regatta and more!
Then from 7pm till late, it will be our punk party with the Special Duties, Red Flag 77, Waxies Dargle + a special guest. There will also be some more raffles and games!
We look forward to seeing you there, just be sure to spread the news!
Everybody who has ever worked, performed or socialised with Kev Moore (Froggai) knows that it would take something incredible for him to add running to his busy schedule. Turns out that thing is Krissy & Friends Foundation.
He has done the ground work, trained, jogged and other stuff runners do, keeping it all under wraps and now the countdown starts!
Next Sunday (23rd April), Kev will run the London Marathon, yes the real one, and despite keeping it quiet he has been sighted running the streets of Ipswich, Kesgrave, Felixstowe and beyond in preparation.
If you see him out running don’t hesitate to give him a wave and let us know – preferably with a picture – we need proof!!!
And the brilliant Colin Russell is back at it again too – as he’ll also be running on the big day.
More importantly please donate some money to help provide therapy though music to local children, as any little amount of money you can offer adds up to a lot and will help so many young people of East Anglia and that’s what all the effort is for.
Hello, we haven’t posted an update lately, so we’re here to share the news on our lovely afternoon with the ladies of Saxmundham!
Shirley, a long term supporter of the charity, has shaved her head, made jewellery and baked cakes on behalf of the children of East Anglia to ensure they receive therapy through music.
In addition to all her own efforts she took us to meet Janice of Cards and Celebrations in Saxmundham on Monday, who has spent the last year raising funds for Krissy and Friends, filling three collection pots to the Brim!
The total was an amazing £131.79 plus the £12 that Shirley has saved in her coppers, that’s an incredible £143.79. WOW!
In the ten years that Janice has run the shop, she and her customers have supported many charities and we are honoured that she chose our small local charity for 2016. We are very grateful to the Saxmunham community and thank them on behalf of all the families they are supporting through us. Thank you.
Teens take a lot of criticism but we see them at their best all the time!
Another young lady has shone through this week; Sophie Peck, aged 14 years, has spent her own time pampering friends and family for a small fee and has donated all the money to Krissy and Friends Foundation.
The £50 given will be used to support other young people with life changing illness, injury and diagnosis.
How lovely to witness the kindness and generosity of the young. Thank you Sophie and all those who helped her.
If you’d like to help in any way, shape or form too, please do contact us.
Before the hustle and bustle of Christmas really sets in, this could be the year you finally get ahead, and buy your Christmas cards early! There are only six more Mondays before the last Christmas postal dates, so why hesitate?
This year our cards have been adorably designed by Lexi, aged 7 and are kindly sponsored by local business Midas.
You can buy a pack of 10 cards for the bargain price of £5. The inside has been left blank for your own personal message. Each pack also contains details of how the little ones you know could be the winner of our 2017 Christmas card design competition.
We are happy to deliver for free in and around Ipswich, further afield will require additional postage and packaging costs.
The money we receive will help East Anglian children to access music based therapies, what a great gift to give.
Please contact us through Facebook or email us at email@example.com to let us know how many packs you would like and the delivery address. We will then advise you on how you can pay. After this, we will make arrangements to get your cards to you ASAP!
Thank you for supporting us and best wishes to you all!
An update has been long overdue, so incase you hadn’t seen or heard already the hotly contested music quiz is bigger and better than ever this year, with more pubs, more fun and bigger bragging rights!
But don’t panic if you’re not very good, that’s okay, because it’s all for charity!
This year’s Multi Pub Music Quiz takes place on Thursday the 29th of September at 7pm.
We ask simply that there are no more than 4 in a team, and that you donate £10 per team (which is a mere £2.50 per person!).
This year, the pubs involved are as follows: –
Duke of York (Ipswich)
The Steamboat Tavern (Ipswich)
The Greyhound (Claydon)
Briarbank Brewery (Ipswich)
The Shamrock (Ipswich)
The Mulberry Tree (Ipswich)
The Dove (Ipswich)
The Kesgrave Bell (Kesgrave)
And here is our poster (click to enlarge):
Feel free to share it in your pub or with your friends!
We hope you are ready to get quizzical! Will we see you there? Who will become our 2016 champion? We can’t wait!
This time last week, we would have just about recovered from the mania (and hangovers!)of our 2016 Summer Fundraiser.
We’re amazed it’s our third year already! Therefore, we just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out and supported us on Saturday the 23rd of July – it was great to see a mix of old and new face.
With your help we managed to raise a whopping, just over £1,600! That’s such a brilliant figure and will go such a long way to supporting young people of East Anglia through music therapy.
We have just updated our Gallery over on our Facebook page (we are still looking into fixing our Website Gallery, so stay tuned for that update in the future) – and we want to also say a big thank you to the brilliant Rob Buttigieg, who posed as Photographer for the day, catching some cracking shots for us. (Were you there? You might have been snapped… feel free to tag yourself, share and let us know if you have!)
As always, another big thank you to The Steamboat Tavern for being great hosts.
A round of applause for the fabulous acts that entertained us through-out the day, whether you stepped up to the open mic in the day, or you were one of rocking evening bands. We loved you all!
Also, to the whole of team Krissy & Friends and the volunteers who all pulled their weight in making this lovely event happen.
Finally, thank you again to you all, because if it wasn’t for you we wouldn’t be able to provide music therapy to those that need it. We really appreciate your support, and hope to see you again soon!
We can’t believe how lucky we are that local bandFisti Kuffshave been working with the International Rapper and Music Producer MC Lars to write a single dedicated to us.
This song has been in the making for over a year and recorded by Ian Crow of Amblin’ Man Recording Studios local recording studio based in Otley, Suffolk before being sent to the USA for MC Lars himself to apply his unique brand of ‘nerdcore’ ingeniousness.
You can download the single for just 79p from iTunes, stream online via Spotify or purchase for just £1 via this link here.
100% of the money received will be given to Krissy & Friends Foundation to help with our work in the community.
We cannot thank enough to all those involved in writing, performing and recording this great single. On behalf of all of us at KFF, cheers!
And to you music lovers out there – we all hope that you enjoy this track. Why not have a jam while supporting our cause? Thank you for supporting us!
We are now in our third year of our Summer Fundraising Day, and we want to see you there again!
On the 23rd July, the Krissy And Friends Annual Summer Fundraising Day will return to the Steamboat Tavern in Ipswich.
As you probably already know by now, we provide music therapy for children in Suffolk with life changing illness and injury. And we’ve just launched our referral applications!
But back to the event…
First up we have the FAMILY FUN DAY from 12pm-6pm, where we will have family friendly activities from a bouncy castle, raffles, stalls, cake and bake sale, a bouncy castle, acoustic music and much more!
However, possibly our favourite part of the day is the 2nd annual raingutter regatta and boat building – which you can read about in full here.
Then we’ll follow it up in the evening with LIVE MUSIC from 7pm till late, where we will host some of Suffolk’s best bands for a mere £5 entry.
The line-up of which so far includes:
The brilliant three-piece Denial Twist, a garage rock band from Ippo and Colchester, that claim to be influenced by red wine, The White Stripes, Nirvana and Katy Perry!
The Dreggs, who started out as a laugh between the three of them (or really, an excuse for more Les Dawson moments from Kev, drumstick throwing from Rayna and falling over from Seamus), but will now be aired to the public! As as the three of them claim they “can’t sing for toffee”, they’ve managed to bribe/beg/threaten a number of guest vocalists to join them and among them shall be their shipmates from East Town Pirates for a couple of never played live before, new ETP songs.
The evening will then end with Smart Alex, who are a veritable supergroup of East Anglian punksters. Their set is full of frenetic old school Adicts and Sustained tunes from way back when.
Plus if you want to be sure you don’t miss this entertaining evening of fabulous music with a dash of chaos, please contact us for tickets or head over to Steamboat Tavern or Out Of Time Records to pick some up.
Feel free to spread the word, join the Facebook event, invite your friends and family, and we hope to see you there on the big day!
As you should know, we had two wonderful people, Clare and Colin, run the London Marathon for us on the 24th of April.
You may have even been following their progress on our Facebook page, but if not… here’s the final summary for you.
First off, we just want to say we cannot thank Colin and Clare enough for their gruelling day. They both finished the marathon and have, at last count, raised approximately £2,000.
We are in the stages of launching our referral process and this money will go a LONG way to supporting many young people and their families. Well done to you both… You are nothing short of amazing!
Clare (aka “Duch … the London Marathon Finisher!”) said earlier this week:
“It’s been a bit of a roller coaster! My legs are finally talking to me again, on Monday morning I had to literally crawl to the bathroom as I just couldn’t walk!
Sooo… I only went and blinkin’ did it!
I just want to say thank you so much for coming down to support me, those that did, because I honestly don’t think I would have been able to carry on after mile 18… I wasn’t in the best of places and coming round the corner and seeing a bunch of you there was just brilliant.
I’ve had a few people point out that the page was still open for donations, so have seen quite a few more donations come through. I can’t believe how much we’ve been able to raise for you though!
I hope we have raised enough for you guys to be able to carry on the great work you are already doing to help the kiddies and their families.
Off now to get a pedicure done to thank my tootsies for getting me round without any blisters or losing any toenails!”
