Summer Fundraising Day 2017

IT’S BACK! Bigger, better and more fun than ever!

Our summer fundraising event is returning to The Steamboat Tavern, Ipswich on the 19th of August.

As always, we’ll be offering a fun, family friendly atmosphere, with  live music through out the day and night, along with food and much more.

Once again, we’ll be raising funds to provide therapy through music for local children with life changing illness, injury or diagnosis. Your money can really help make a difference.

From midday to 5pm, it will be the family fun day with acoustic music from Paolo Morena, T@9, Bill Pipe, Lewis Pratt, Hackett 2 Death, James Morgan, Fanny Adams and Johnny Skeates. Along with raffles, cake stall, a bouncy castle, arts/crafts, games, our famous rain gutter regatta and more!

Then from 7pm till late, it will be our punk party with the Special Duties, Red Flag 77, Waxies Dargle + a special guest. There will also be some more raffles and games!

We look forward to seeing you there, just be sure to spread the news!

See the poster for the event:

Super Sophie!

Teens take a lot of criticism but we see them at their best all the time!

Another young lady has shone through this week; Sophie Peck, aged 14 years, has spent her own time pampering friends and family for a small fee and has donated all the money to Krissy and Friends Foundation.

The £50 given will be used to support other young people with life changing illness, injury and diagnosis.

How lovely to witness the kindness and generosity of the young. Thank you Sophie and all those who helped her.

If you’d like to help in any way, shape or form too, please do contact us.

Christmas Cards

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!

Before the hustle and bustle of Christmas really sets in, this could be the year you finally get ahead, and buy your Christmas cards early! There are only six more Mondays before the last Christmas postal dates, so why hesitate?

This year our cards have been adorably designed by Lexi, aged 7 and are kindly sponsored by local business Midas.

14947822_559932604198037_2947576943381572607_n

You can buy a pack of 10 cards for the bargain price of £5. The inside has been left blank for your own personal message. Each pack also contains details of how the little ones you know could be the winner of our 2017 Christmas card design competition.

We are happy to deliver for free in and around Ipswich, further afield will require additional postage and packaging costs.

The money we receive will help East Anglian children to access music based therapies, what a great gift to give.

Please contact us through Facebook or email us at krissy.and.friends@gmail.com to let us know how many packs you would like and the delivery address. We will then advise you on how you can pay. After this, we will make arrangements to get your cards to you ASAP!

Thank you for supporting us and best wishes to you all!

Multi Pub Music Quiz 2016 – RESULTS

A huge thank you to all the venues & attendees who supported our Multi Pub Charity Quiz on the 29th September 2016.

Results are in…

The Dove won the highest average scoring pub trophy and The Shamrock wins the trophy for most funds raised.  All the pubs played their part in helping vulnerable children across East Anglia access music as therapy.

Plans are already afoot to make next year bigger and better, with quizzes being donated and more pubs offering to take part, so keep your eyes and ears open as our big quiz night grows you might want to plan your team now!

Recap: Summer Fundraiser 2016

This time last week, we would have just about recovered from the mania (and hangovers!) of our 2016 Summer Fundraiser.

We’re amazed it’s our third year already! Therefore, we just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out and supported us on Saturday the 23rd of July – it was great to see a mix of old and new face.

With your help we managed to raise a whopping, just over £1,600! That’s such a brilliant figure and will go such a long way to supporting young people of East Anglia through music therapy.

We have just updated our Gallery over on our Facebook page (we are still looking into fixing our Website Gallery, so stay tuned for that update in the future) – and we want to also say a big thank you to the brilliant Rob Buttigieg, who posed as Photographer for the day, catching some cracking shots for us. (Were you there? You might have been snapped… feel free to tag yourself, share and let us know if you have!)

As always, another big thank you to The Steamboat Tavern for being great hosts.

A round of applause for the fabulous acts that entertained us through-out the day, whether you stepped up to the open mic in the day, or you were one of rocking evening bands. We loved you all!

Also, to the whole of team Krissy & Friends and the volunteers who all pulled their weight in making this lovely event happen.

Finally, thank you again to you all, because if it wasn’t for you we wouldn’t be able to provide music therapy to those that need it. We really appreciate your support, and hope to see you again soon!

Raingutter Regatta Rules 2016

The Krissy & Friends and Steamboat Tavern Raingutter Regatta boat race is back again for it’s second year as part of the Summer Fundraising Day 2016.

This event is open to everyone!

Entrants (teams or individuals) will need to create a boat (following the specifications below) – you are free to paint and decorate your boat as you chose and prizes will be awarded for design, as well as race winners. Boats can be constructed prior to the day or materials will be provided on the day. Sailboats will race along a specially adapted raingutter filled with water.

All boats and Captains must be registered by 3pm in order to participate.

Trophies will be awarded to First, Second and Third place winners of both the Race and for Design, so make and name your boat, assign your captain and RACE!

Good luck!

THE RULES:

1) Boat Specifications:

  • No other form of propulsion besides the sail is allowed.
  • Length: up to 18cm (maximum).
  • Height: May not exceed 18cm from the top of the deck to the tip of the mast.
  • Sail: The sail can be made from any material, but the dimensions should not exceed 14cm high and 10cm wide.
  • Width: There is no official maximum or minimum width for the boat although the width of the raingutter is about 12cm wide and the boat must sit down inside the gutter in order to race.
  • Weight: No weight restrictions.
  • Decorations/Additions: Objects such as sailors, cannons, etc. may be added. All such decorations must be firmly fastened to the boat, and may not be placed in such a manner as to exceed the boat  dimensions as listed above.
  • Bowsprits (large spars projecting forward from the stem) are prohibited in racing competition, as they extend the overall length of the boat, providing an unfair advantage.
  • Body: The body can be made from any materials. It may be shaped, hollowed out, or built up, as long as it meets all other specifications.
  • Boat must be able to carry a Krissy & Friends / Steamboat Lego mascot (these will be provided on the day) from start to finish.

Tip – a winning raingutter racer stays on an even keel, moves in a straight line, keeps the bow above water and does not drag.

2) Inspection and Registration:

Before the race begins, all participating “Captains” must check-in with their boats. Here are the pre-race check-in details:

  • Before a boat may compete in the regatta, it is subject to a technical inspection by the Raingutter Regatta Commodore, to verify that it meets the prescribed specifications (see 1) Boat Specifications above for details). If a problem is noted, the Captain may be asked to correct it before the boat is registered.
  • When the boat passes inspection, it is then registered along with the boat name and the Captain’s name.
  • Registration cutoff will be no later than 30 minutes before race start time for all participants. Boats that have not registered by the cutoff deadline (3pm) will not race, so plan to arrive early enough to get your boat registered.

3) Race Procedure:

Every race has to have rules, and ours is no exception. Here’s what to expect:

  • Power: No motors, paddles, or other devices allowed. An unattached straw to help direct wind at the sail is allowed, but only the captain can provide the wind.
  • Each race heat will involve two equal lengths of raingutter (approximately 3 metres long) filled with water.
  • The race heat begins once the official starter has placed the competing boats against the back wall of the gutter and commands the boats to “GO!”
  • Pushing the boat forward is NOT allowed while righting a capsized or stuck boat by hand. Pushing may result in disqualification.
  • The first boat to reach the finish line (the opposite end of the gutter) is the winner of that heat. The finish line official(s) will have the final and only say in determining the winner. In the unlikely event of a tie, the heat will be rerun.
  • The race will be run as a double elimination format, with the winners of each heat advancing until the third, second, and first place winners are determined for each rank.
  • First, Second, and Third Places will be awarded either Design or Racing awards.
  • Ungentlemanly or unsportsmanlike conduct by any participant or spectator may be grounds for expulsion from the competition and/or the race area.

Hope you’ve got your thinking caps on – see you on the big day!

Summer Fundraising Day 2016

We are now in our third year of our Summer Fundraising Day, and we want to see you there again!

On the 23rd July, the Krissy And Friends Annual Summer Fundraising Day will return to the Steamboat Tavern in Ipswich.

As you probably already know by now, we provide music therapy for children in Suffolk with life changing illness and injury. And we’ve just launched our referral applications!

But back to the event…

First up we have the FAMILY FUN DAY from 12pm-6pm, where we will have family friendly activities from a bouncy castle, raffles, stalls, cake and bake sale, a bouncy castle, acoustic music and much more!

However, possibly our favourite part of the day is the 2nd annual raingutter regatta and boat building – which you can read about in full here.

Then we’ll follow it up in the evening with LIVE MUSIC from 7pm till late, where we will host some of Suffolk’s best bands for a mere £5 entry.

The line-up of which so far includes:

The brilliant three-piece Denial Twist, a garage rock band from Ippo and Colchester, that claim to be influenced by red wine, The White Stripes, Nirvana and Katy Perry!

The Dreggs, who started out as a laugh between the three of them (or really, an excuse for more Les Dawson moments from Kev, drumstick throwing from Rayna and falling over from Seamus), but will now be aired to the public! As as the three of them claim they “can’t sing for toffee”, they’ve managed to bribe/beg/threaten a number of guest vocalists to join them and among them shall be their shipmates from East Town Pirates for a couple of never played live before, new ETP songs.

The evening will then end with Smart Alex, who are a veritable supergroup of East Anglian punksters. Their set is full of frenetic old school Adicts and Sustained tunes from way back when.

Check out the posters for the event here:

Any further details are to be confirmed, so follow both Our Facebook Event or Our Facebook Page and The Dreggs Facebook event and check back for updates.

Plus if you want to be sure you don’t miss this entertaining evening of fabulous music with a dash of chaos, please contact us for tickets or head over to Steamboat Tavern or Out Of Time Records to pick some up.

Feel free to spread the word, join the Facebook event, invite your friends and family, and we hope to see you there on the big day!

Referrals Now Welcome…

What a fantastic couple of years we have had and such exciting times ahead.

With your help we are now in a position to support individual children or young people and their families in East Anglia with ‘Therapy Through Music’.

This could mean we fund a course of sessions with a qualified Music Therapist or arrange a bespoke package tailored to meet the individual child or young persons specific need/s.  Bespoke packages could be anything from funding a family trip to see a show to arranging music lessons or providing musical equipment.  Whatever the need we aim to meet it.

HOW DO YOU MAKE A REFERRAL?

Please contact us through our referral page.

WHO CAN REFER ?

We welcome referrals from anyone and everyone.  You do not need to be a professional to make a referral.

We aim to support as many children and young people as possible.  With your help we hope to increase the amount we reach.  Our next fund raising event is our Summer Fundriaser on 23rd July 2016 at the Steamboat Tavern, Ipswich.  We hope you to see you there.

Many thanks from all of us at KFF for your support in getting us to where we are today. Your generosity will benefit many local families.

2nd Birthday Party

We would like you to join us in celebrating our 2nd year fundraising for local families, at our 2nd birthday party.

This is not a fundraising event but is our way of saying thank you for your part in making this past year and our journey so successful!

It’s family friendly so please bring your loved ones with you, and it’ll be taking place on Sunday 8th May 2016 at The Steamboat Tavern from 4.30pm till 7pm.

Follow the event here on our Facebook page.

We hope you can make it!
