Recap: Summer Fundraiser 2016

This time last week, we would have just about recovered from the mania (and hangovers!) of our 2016 Summer Fundraiser.

We’re amazed it’s our third year already! Therefore, we just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out and supported us on Saturday the 23rd of July – it was great to see a mix of old and new face.

With your help we managed to raise a whopping, just over £1,600! That’s such a brilliant figure and will go such a long way to supporting young people of East Anglia through music therapy.

We have just updated our Gallery over on our Facebook page (we are still looking into fixing our Website Gallery, so stay tuned for that update in the future) – and we want to also say a big thank you to the brilliant Rob Buttigieg, who posed as Photographer for the day, catching some cracking shots for us. (Were you there? You might have been snapped… feel free to tag yourself, share and let us know if you have!)

As always, another big thank you to The Steamboat Tavern for being great hosts.

A round of applause for the fabulous acts that entertained us through-out the day, whether you stepped up to the open mic in the day, or you were one of rocking evening bands. We loved you all!

Also, to the whole of team Krissy & Friends and the volunteers who all pulled their weight in making this lovely event happen.

Finally, thank you again to you all, because if it wasn’t for you we wouldn’t be able to provide music therapy to those that need it. We really appreciate your support, and hope to see you again soon!

Marathon Runners: Final Update

As you should know, we had two wonderful people, Clare and Colin, run the London Marathon for us on the 24th of April.

You may have even been following their progress on our Facebook page, but if not… here’s the final summary for you.

First off, we just want to say we cannot thank Colin and Clare enough for their gruelling day. They both finished the marathon and have, at last count, raised approximately £2,000.

We are in the stages of launching our referral process and this money will go a LONG way to supporting many young people and their families. Well done to you both… You are nothing short of amazing!

Clare (aka “Duch … the London Marathon Finisher!”) said earlier this week:

“It’s been a bit of a roller coaster! My legs are finally talking to me again, on Monday morning I had to literally crawl to the bathroom as I just couldn’t walk!

Sooo… I only went and blinkin’ did it!

I just want to say thank you so much for coming down to support me, those that did, because I honestly don’t think I would have been able to carry on after mile 18… I wasn’t in the best of places and coming round the corner and seeing a bunch of you there was just brilliant.

I’ve had a few people point out that the page was still open for donations, so have seen quite a few more donations come through. I can’t believe how much we’ve been able to raise for you though!

I hope we have raised enough for you guys to be able to carry on the great work you are already doing to help the kiddies and their families.

Off now to get a pedicure done to thank my tootsies for getting me round without any blisters or losing any toenails!”

Shirley’s Head Shave

Shirley Boland is a very brave woman, who like John Adams in 2014, decided to shave off all her hair in order to raise funds for our charity at our Summer Fundraising Weekend on the 19th of July. This alone, managed to raise more than £850 so helping us to achieve the total sum of £2,376.75.

A huge thank you once again to Shirley, to our supporters and to the Steamboat Tavern for hosting.

Below are the before and after images!

July’s Fundraising Weekender!

Well, what a weekend we had between the 18th-19th of July at our Summer Fundraising Weekend at The Steamboat Tavern!

We got up to all kinds of fun! Day 1 showcased an evening of 3 brilliant local acts: Red Flag 77, Suspect Device and Casual Nausea who had everyone up, dancing and enjoying themselves. We also had a booze raffle, people in the stocks, yummy food and more! Equally, Day 2 was just as much fun, with our bouncy castle, a bungee run, boat-making and the raingutter regatta, henna tattoos, a head shave, raffles, cake stall and more!

Thanks to everyone’s overwhelming support, we have blown last year’s total out of the water! According to our current calculations, the grand total so far is £2,376.75. A huge thank you once again to everyone involved: the bands/musicians/performers, our supporters, our trustees and volunteers and finally, the Steamboat Tavern for hosting such a great weekend.

Beer Festival totals & Hidden Gardens!

Well what a brilliant weekend we’ve had…

From Thursday until Saturday we spent all our time with the wonderful folks that are CAMRA at Ipswich Town Football Clubs training pitch. It was the 32nd Ipswich Beer Festival and we were CAMRAs chosen charity.

Then to follow that, on Sunday  we had a delightful afternoon at Grundisburgh’s ‘Hidden Gardens’ event as we were also the chosen charity for their events. See more upcoming events that are part of the GBCHS Horticulture festival at www.gbchs.org.uk or on our events page.

Regarding the Beer Festival, we would like to say a huge thank you to GrapevineLive for helping us provide music at the beer festival, to Stephen Foster for an exciting music quiz and a MASSIVE thanks to all our volunteers who turned up at both events, in all weather, and donated their time and support to make these events as successful as they were. Similarly, a massive thank you to YOU, are loyal and new supporters because thank to you…

In total we have managed to raise a HUGE £1,831.40 this weekend at the Beer Festival, so once again thank you to EVERYONE who dug deep into their pockets. This is a massive amount that will go a long way to helping families in our community. On behalf of all the trustees … THANK YOU xox

Our visit to EACH & 1st Birthday!

As we said before, last week (Thursday 23rd of April) we handed over our cheque of what we have raised in a year to EACH, and what a brilliant, emotive afternoon we had at EACH.

With all your continued support over the past year, we managed to raise our target and present £5,000 to the music therapy department at EACH.  Attached is an image of that moment.

Thank you to the choir who sang beautifully, and Gemma who took the time to show us around the wonderful building and The Treehouse Garden.  It was great to reminisce and return to the room where Kath and I (Krissy) first hatched the plan to start Krissy & Friends and wow,  what a way we’ve come since then!

We also made it onto the EACH website, so you can head over there to read their article.

A big thank you to all of you who turned out to our Birthday event that also happened last Thursday.  We hope you enjoyed celebrating with us and all got a piece of the Krissy & Friends cake! We are so proud and pleased of how far you’ve allowed us to come and we hope to see you again on our 2nd Birthday!

But if you couldn’t make it… once again, a huge thank you to everyone for your continued support.   However big or small your contribution, every little bit helps and we are looking forward to the exciting events we have planned for this year so keep your eyes peeled for new information… Bring it on!! xox

Multi-Pub Music Quiz summary!

Well what a FANTASTIC evening we had at the Multi-Pub Music Quiz on the 11th of February!

We have been overwhelmed with the texts, tweets, emails and posts on how much fun everyone had and we are all SO pleased that it was such a success.

If anyone has photos they would like to share with us, please post them to our  Facebook, tweet us on Twitter  or email them to krissy.and.friends@gmail.com. Here is our Gallery so far.

We are well aware of the communication issues of phoning/texting results to Stephen Foster at the end of the evening and the even bigger problem of trying to get the results back to the pubs. Rest assured, we have learnt from this (and a couple of other things) and this part of the event will be sorted by next year. Thanks everyone for your understanding. Again, thanks again to Foz who did a great job.

By 22:00 on the day, the pubs taking part had collectively raised £1,883.60. Merchandise Stall & another donation!

We recently did a stall at The East Town Pirates ‘Pirate Day’ event, on the 30th of August at The Steamboat Tavern. We sold our official merchandise which includes wristbands, badges, guitar picks and much more. We also had a few donations of items from the generous Shirley Boland who worked very hard at making some lovely jewellery to sell, with a range of Earrings, Bracelets and Necklaces so a big thank you for all your contribution. Thanks to many generous friends and fans, we managed to raise £141 for our foundation! A big thank you if you popped down and purchased anything!

On the same day, Abby Jarvis and Martyn Stimpson took part in the summer frenzy that is ‘The Ice Bucket Challenge’ and instead of donating to the lead cause, chose to donate to us instead. So a big thank you to you too Abby and Martyn it was much appreciated!

The July 2014 event total!

Hello everyone. This is the first blog/news post. This is just the start of many exciting things.

Well, the BIG annual first event has now finished, the money has been collected, counted and put into the bank. The tables have been cleared, left over cakes eaten, Fanny’s hair has been swept away and we hope everyone involved in organising and running the event have had some time to recover! So, I guess you all want to know how much we raised?! Well a massive thank you to EVERYONE for their kind generosity as the final total was a whopping £1,390.80. This amount does not include the incredible amount raised by Fanny alone. Fanny’s event raised £918.00 and he is still collecting!! We thought we were being silly hoping we could raise £1,500, well… With your support we reached this target and beyond. So from all the trustees, a big huge THANK YOU! xox
